How admissions work in Delhi NCR
Most Delhi NCR schools follow the same stages, whatever the curriculum.

Which Delhi NCR schools have places for your children?
A place is not something a school has in general. It exists for one year group, at one campus, for one intake. Two children in the same family can get two different answers from the same school on the same day.
School websites cannot tell you this. Availability changes when a family leaves, when a contract ends, or when a new year group opens. That is why we ask schools directly instead of publishing a number that would be out of date by the time you read it.

Choosing where to live in Delhi NCR

Moving with more than one child
One school that works for every child, not one child
Most families moving to Delhi NCR are moving with more than one child, and the hardest part is rarely finding a good school. It is finding one school that can take all of your children in the same year.
Checking each child separately, school by school, is where the search becomes slow. A school that has room in Year 1 may be full in Year 4, and you only learn that after two emails and a wait.

How schooling works in Delhi NCR
Schools are affiliated to a board — CBSE and CISCE nationally, or Cambridge and IB internationally — and regulated by the state in which the campus sits. Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh each set their own rules on fee increases and admission procedures, so two schools 20 minutes apart may follow different frameworks.
Which state your address sits in matters
Delhi, Gurugram and Noida have separate fee-regulation and admissions rules, and separate transport realities across state borders at peak hours.
Decide the cluster first — most families anchor on the office — then look at schools within it rather than across the whole region.
Air quality is a planning question, not a footnote
Between roughly late October and January, air quality across NCR is often poor, and authorities periodically restrict outdoor activity or move classes online.
Ask schools directly: do classrooms and sports halls have filtration, at what index do they move activities indoors, and how did they operate during the worst weeks last winter. The answers vary widely and are a legitimate deciding factor.
Admissions cycles and the nursery bottleneck
Entry-point admissions, especially at nursery, follow published criteria and timelines and are competitive. Later grades usually depend on a place opening up.
For an overseas move, contact schools directly with your children's ages, current curriculum and intended start date, and ask for the position by grade.
Fees, deposits and annual increases
Tuition is published in rupees per grade, billed quarterly or per term, with admission fees and a refundable security deposit on top.
Increases are subject to state rules that differ across NCR. Ask what the increase has been for the last three years, not just this year's figure.
Documents and enrolment paperwork
Expect passports and visas, previous reports, a transfer certificate, birth certificate, address proof and medical records.
Overseas transfer certificates may need attestation, and the process is slow once you have left the country. Collect them before departure.
